seat bumper.jpg (54848 bytes) Remove seat and height adjusting rod.  Remove rubber bumper and grind off plastic tab left on seat.
seat tab.jpg (64190 bytes) Remove seat tab all the way to seat base pan
rear seat tab.jpg (50349 bytes) Remove rear seat and saw off area shown in yellow and tab
front bracket.jpg (49700 bytes) (this step not critical but looks nicer)   Remove front hinge and cut out about 3\8" and re-weld.  Use flat head screws like the ones to hold the plastic fairing on. Careful, removing too much hinge material will cause hinge to hit gas tank.
seat ridge.jpg (73297 bytes) Drill out rivets in leg area.  Heat with hair dryer and pull back vinyl.  Remove plastic lip with grinder.  Chamfer foam.  Re-glue vinyl with contact cement.  Re-rivet vinyl in new holes.
seat finished.jpg (58717 bytes) Finished product
All of the above gain a little extra foot on the ground.  Combined, they make a noticeable difference.  This cost nothing but time!  The seat no longer rests on the tabs but on the frame cross bar.  Make sure no wires are on the top of the bar or the seat will pinch them!!  You will have to adjust your latch bracket as well
