Installing a sun visor on the Garmin Colormap

I traced the face of the Garmin on a 4x4 and used a belt sander to duplicate the face.  I laid the  1\16" black plastic on the wood and put the whole thing in a oven at 225 deg.  When the plastic got soft, I pulled the wood and plastic out of the oven  and pulled Saran wrap over the outside to pull the plastic firmly against the mold until it cooled.  I used some adhesive back  velcro to attach the visor on the GPS.  Looks almost factory!

Installing the GPS

I shaped a piece of aluminum that matched the curvature of the top of the radio and sliconed it to the base of the GPS.  Remove the original rubber base first.  For better looks I used a full length strip of industrial adhesive back 3M Velcro (not the hook and fabric style)on top of the radio.   The industrial version uses "mini mushrooms" on both sides and holds very well  with no wiggle.  So well that I could not remove the unit easily so I only used small lengths on the new GPS aluminum piece.
