How do I pick up the K1200LT   after I drop it?

Written by Robert Erhardt

The procedure for picking up the bike is as follows:

1. Make sure bike is in gear, you don't want her to roll while you are picking her up. If bike is down on the right side, put the side stand down now.

2. Turn the handle bars to lock in the direction the bike is down, if on the left side, turn bars to the left, etc.

3. Now turn your back to the bike and grab the handle bars and a comfortable spot on or near the seat. If down on the left side, use the center stand grab.

4. Now keeping your back and arms straight lift and push back with your legs and sort of "walk" it upright. If you are picking up from the left, once you get the bike almost up, but you can still feel pressure, kick down the side stand with your heel then let it back down on the stand. If you are picking up from the right, once you get it upright, ease it over on the side stand.

I offer this information with no warranty assumed or implied. Use at your own risk.

I am 5'11", 170lbs and work behind a desk all day, so way out of shape, but this has worked for me when I had to pick her up alone.

The key is to find the right leverage point and balance between lift and push, but if you find you are really straining, try a different "angle", that is lift less, push back more or vice versa.

Hope this helps.
